Both GordianKnot Principals (and founders) are hands-on, operating / executive managers with extensive backgrounds in Sales, Operations and Financial strategy, and practical experience in the implementation of supply chain and systems solutions.

They have founded and run a total of 5 companies.  As such, they are experienced in both the actual management of companies, and they have the analytical capability to make sound decisions based on data.

The Principals both have Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degrees from the Harvard Business School and undergraduate degrees in Engineering.

Chris Dietemann

Mr. Dietemann is an experienced line manager with a proven track record in conceptualizing and growing new business ventures, building and leading Sales organizations, implementing MRP and Quality management systems, and managing complex manufacturing, supply chain and distribution operations in the US, Europe, and Mexico.

In 1987, together with Robert Benson, Mr. Dietemann founded Lokring Corporation, which designed, manufactured, and marketed a patented pipe/tube joining system to the chemical, automotive, marine and industrial markets.  As Executive Vice President, Mr. Dietemann recruited Lokring’s direct sales and distribution organization. Lokring ranked 3 times on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing privately held companies (#14 in 1993).  In 1994, Mr. Dietemann started up the Lokring European operation based in the Netherlands.

In the seven years prior to founding GordianKnot, Mr. Dietemann managed the Operations and Sales of the Metal Products division of Hendry Telephone Products.  During his tenure at Hendry, Mr. Dietemann oversaw the construction of a new 200,000+ square foot facility, transferred production of over 2,000 SKUs from California to Texas, and implemented a successful outsourcing strategy with local and offshore contract manufacturers.

Mr. Dietemann has a BSE degree from Princeton University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is fluent in French, has a working capability in German, and is a US/EEC dual national.


Robert Benson

A co-founder of Gordian Knot, Mr. Benson has over thirty years of business, consulting and teaching experience.  He is a seasoned CEO with a proven track record in conceptualizing and growing new business ventures.  He has specialized in building and leading organizations both within large corporations and at smaller start-up situations.  He is effective in the development of strategic business plans, the raising of capital, the hiring and coaching of effective teams and the implementing of the enterprise management systems (ERP, Quality, CRM, etc.) to manage complex manufacturing, supply chain and distribution operations.

During the past twenty years Mr. Benson has founded or co-founded four companies in the Industrial product, Medical product, Distribution and Supply Chain management, Contract Manufacturing and Enterprise Software areas.  Lokring Corporation, founded with Chris Dietemann in 1986, ranked 3 times on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing privately held companies (#14 in 1993).  iPower Nor-Cal, founded in 1998, provided Integrated Supply services to simplify the supply chain and reduce costs to both MRO and OEM customers.  Engineered Solutions, which developed from the iPower Company in 2001, grew rapidly providing integrated, supply-chain management solutions to major OEMs of Medical, Semiconductor, and Biotech Systems equipment.

Mr. Benson has the ability to quickly and objectively analyze corporate strategy, tactics and operations. As President of PCG-ACT he has applied these skills during consulting engagements with a variety of companies.  He applies both line management experience and analytical skills to lead consulting assignments in Corporate Strategy, Sales Strategy, Enterprise Systems, Supply Chain Management assignments.  These projects range from staffing and building a complete contract manufacturing operation in Austin, TX, to developing a business strategy for the turn-around of a Medical device firm and leading the implementation of that strategy as CEO.

Mr. Benson has a BSME degree with honors from Iowa State University, and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School.
